If you have been paying attention to the news for the past 20 years, Africans are dying by the millions. These reports invariably say that millions upon millions of Africans have:

AIDS

Some people even believe that AIDS started in Africa. What you don't know is that the media is relying on the W.H.O. (World Health Organization). So then the question is how did the W.H.O. come up with these numbers, millions.

Conan O'brien Injured on the Job, Cancels "Tonight" Show

Conan O'Brien Rushed to Hospital

Friday night the star of the "Tonight" show, Conan O’Brien, hit his head while attempting a stunt during the show’s taping. Mr. O’Brien could not continue with the show and was rushed to the hospital. NBC issued a brief statement saying only that Mr. O’Brien had “hit his head doing a stunt and the show was not finished.” Hopefully this knocked some funny into him. He hasn't been funny since Reagan took office.




No other details were released. One staff member on the show said Mr. O’Brien was expected to be fine and it was likely he would be back to work on Monday. Conan jokingly said, “Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice.” One staffer commented he is fine and would be up and running in no time.




As a result of the incident, Friday evening’s show wasn’t completed, and a “Tonight Show” re-run aired. NBC has yet to announce plans for next week’s shows.

Jessica Lange Under the Knife: Plastic Surgery

Jessica Lange for the Win

Well known actress Jessica Lange won her first Emmy Award ever, for outstanding actress in a miniseries or movie, for her performance in the HBO movie "Grey Gardens". The story is based on a documentary done about the character Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, played by Drew Barrymore, "Big Edie" and "Little Edie". However, where the 1975 documentary centered on a riches to rags theme, this movie went back 40 years and explored their life prior to their great downfall. It should be noted that the two were cousins to Jacky O.








The film itself won an Emmy Award for Best Made-for-TV Movie. Also, actor Ken Howard won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a movie or miniseries.

Of course this is all well and good, but the true story here isn't about the excellence of an actress or a movie, the story here is the gossip surrounding Miss Jessica Lange. At age 60 she took the red carpet and she took the stage and everyone was floored how gorgeous she looked.




Jessica Lange Gets Plastic Surgery?

I personally don't see what all the buzz is about: did she or didn't she get plastic surgery. Her manager denies it by the way. Well of course we're talking about actors. Be honest with yourself for one second. Do you really want to pay money to see some fat, average, wrinkled old broad? No. You can walk out your front door and see someone that doesn't take care of themselves any day of the week.

The nature of the beast, is that hollywood is selling "the beautiful people". They are told, with no uncertain terms, "get in shape and look your very best or you don't get work." If she had plastic surgery, who cares. If she didn't have plastic surgery, who cares. That woman has to look her best. I'm not going to marry her nor jump in bed with her, but for a 60 year old woman she looked damn fine.

And that's the word of the day.

Obama Health Care to Cover Illegal Aliens

Representative Joe Wilson (R) South Carolina yelled out "You Lie" to President Obama as he was giving a joint session of congress address. President Obama was asserting that the health care plan that he is proposing would "not" cover illegal aliens, contrary to popular belief. It was at this point that Rep. Joe Wilson yelled out "You Lie".

Let's look into the bill and what it actually does say about illegal aliens and receiving benefits from the ObamaCare plan. The simple fact is President Obama was in fact lying. The method by which illegal immigrants will come to be covered under ObamaCare is through the bill's (HR3200) failure to contain any

• citizenship verification requirement or
• enforcement mechanism mandated to verify one's eligibility.

Other federal programs routinely carry language requiring proof of citizenship before allowing access to benefits.

Congressional democrats defeated two bills which actually enunciated a requirement to show proof of citizenship and an enforcement mechanism to verify one's eligibility. The only proof required for the ObamaCare plan pertains to family income. The democrats then crafted the current HR3200 to cover illegal aliens as well as citizens. The tremendous downside is that citizens would pay into this an illegal aliens would not, nor would their be required to pay into it.

MADD Mad About Female DUI Arrests on the Rise

MADD Speechless Over Female DUI Arrests

Recently a trend was noticed, recorded, and reported on in the national media: Drunken driving arrests on the rise -- for women.

Oh no Martha, say it ain't so!!!

DUI arrests have rising by 28% from 1998 to 2007. This is according to the Transportation Department reports. For men DUI arrests have actually fallen off by 7.5% during that time. The numbers, however, for male arrests for DUI are simply staggering. In 2007 there were over 620 thousand DUI arrests for men, for women the figure is a mere 162 thousand.



Here's where it gets sticky. They sought a statement from MADD, mothers against drunk driving, an all female organization that lobbys to reinstate prohibition lawas against alcohol. MADD was very caught off guard by the reports, and very angry that the national news media outlets reported it. [ I assume the national media has to run everything by MADD these days? ]

When asked what did they make of the findings, they had this to say:

Laura Dean-Mooney, president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, told the Associated Press she could not explain the jump in arrests of women. “There's no hard data on that," Dean-Mooney told AP. "What you're hearing more is that women are under more pressure, they're now perhaps the breadwinner because of the unemployment rate.”

Riiiiiight! Last time I checked, 1998 wasn't back in the stone ages. We're talking about the last 10 years. There has been no tremendous change in female occupation stature in the last 10 years.

It is amazing that feminists will stoop to victimization tactics to explain away, criminal activity? Well, to you working bread winner moms out there, here's to you. MADD, might get their way and stop your choice to have any alcohol one day, but for now, this bud's for you.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Drinking Philosophy: A Study in America

Americas Puritanical Deprivation and Abstinence

I'd like to discuss in this post the habits of people in America who drink versus the European attitude.


First the American sensibilities were founded based on the puritanical philosophy, i.e. one must deprive oneself of all carnal lusts and temptations. This is further echoed in the protestant religions of the Bible Belt. And, it was canonized into the legal realm with the Blue Laws: no alcohol before a decent hour nor after a decent hour of the day; no alcohol on Sunday... etc. Also, the views of abstinence and puritanical eyes also falls into the same category: the naked body is an evil above all other evils to behold. All of this falls dangerously short in the area of violence. One can commit nigh heinous acts of violence for entertainment, but no drinking or smoking and definitely show no flesh.


All these prohibitions have led to one mindset: when i get a chance to drink, I will indulge myself to the fullest. In fact this philosophy is now accepted as the cool attitude towards drinking.

European Sensibilities Towards Drinking Alcohol

Let's quickly juxtapose this versus the European attitude toward drinking. It's actually a very archaic take on drink. During the bible age, i.e. the turn of the Julian calendar, one drank wine as much as one drank water. Of course, wine wasn't distilled to such a degree that four glasses would render you senseless and a buffoon, but it was as much a part of the meal as bread, and they ate a lot of bread. Consider one wheat stalk to make 12 loafs of unleavened bread [i made that up, I've never personally seen a wheat stalk], but you get the idea.




Now the modern European shares the same attitude as those ancient people. He eats his meal and drinks wine with it. Also if he wants to enjoy a liqueur he'll retire after the meal and have a nice discussion and a glass, not 5-10 and definitely not enough to render him stumbling. He knows he has to get on with his life, and can't be hampered by nursing a hangover. In fact it is looked down upon if one is drunk or can't handle the liquor. The attitude is, one shouldn't partake if one is going to be rendered drunk. This self same attitude of do not deprive oneself, is also seen in their view of nudity in public. One should be free to experience the world and be nude. There isn't then a rash of drunkards, nor and outbreak of rapists. In fact the Europeans are quite normal in their every day life.




Wish this familiarity with alcohol, from an early age, and exposure to nudity the European attitude is very nonchalant toward drinking. Compare that to Americans and we're seen as ravening beasts when we get our hands on alcohol. Also pubs, bars, lounges and such are hang outs for far more people overseas, so the club owner or bar owner doesn't have to greedily get everyone drunk in the place to make a profit. Imagine if 10 times more people come into your bar, there would be no need to encourage them to drink. You'd have your hands full serving alcohol anyway.
I don't have the statistics but when i lived in Europe I wasn't struck as it being serious nor heard of drunk driving as an issue at all. Iin fact, I don't believe I knew a homeless person or a drunkard.

No Last Call

Drinking and Driving

Today I'd like to discuss drinking and driving. I feel it's especially appropriate for this holiday season. Specifically I'd like to discuss the city of Las Vegas.

Like New York, the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas has no "last call". Merry makers, party goers, boozers, bums and alcoholics alike can all indulge to their heart's content, and at all hours of the day. I do not have the statistics but Las Vegas boasts some of the highest rates of DUI in the nation. It is an incessant problem. These people crawl behind the wheel of a car and take their own and others' lives into their hands without a thought. They tell themselves they can handle it. They tell themselves they will never be caught. I have one acquaintance who says they drive "better" with a few drinks in his system.

Mayhaps they are not aware of the areas of the brain intoxicants can affect:

• depth perception
• reaction speed
• near sightedness
• far sightedness
• vision in general
• motor skills
• inner ear
• equilibrium

Just to name a few. The list is of course not comprehensive nor exhaustive. What's most bazaar is that Las Vegas has gamblers anonymous group and the casinos voluntarily assign a concierge or liaison to identify players with a problem, which is probably in their best interest, better to keep the fool working and playing than have him go broke today and not be able to return. But there is no prevalent push or awareness of hiring someone specifically to identify alcoholics. In fact the Gaming Board rarely convicts or punishes casinos who allow a clearly intoxicated player to over-leverage themselves. I mean there are cases, but walk around any casino on any given day and you can identify 20% of the place inebriated. And, yet still they let these same people to walk out the door and get behind the wheel of an SUV.

The Long Term Affects of Alcohol on the Brain and Body

BLACKOUTS AND MEMORY LAPSES

Alcohol can produce detectable impairments in memory after only a few drinks and, as the amount of alcohol increases, so does the degree of impairment. Large quantities of alcohol, especially when consumed quickly and on an empty stomach, can produce a blackout, or an interval of time for which the intoxicated person cannot recall key details of events, or even entire events.

ARE WOMEN MORE VULNERABLE TO ALCOHOL’S EFFECTS ON THE BRAIN?

Women are more vulnerable than men to many of the medical consequences of alcohol use.

BRAIN DAMAGE FROM OTHER CAUSES

People who have been drinking large amounts of alcohol for long periods of time run the risk of developing serious and persistent changes in the brain. Damage may be a result of the direct effects of alcohol on the brain or may result indirectly, from a poor general health status or from severe liver disease.

For example, thiamine deficiency is a common occurrence in people with alcoholism and results from poor overall nutrition.

LIVER DISEASE

Most people realize that heavy, long–term drinking can damage the liver, the organ chiefly responsible for breaking down alcohol into harmless byproducts and clearing it from the body. But people may not be aware that prolonged liver dysfunction, such as liver cirrhosis resulting from excessive alcohol consumption, can harm the brain, leading to a serious and potentially fatal brain disorder known as hepatic encephalopathy

This post was just made as a short awareness post to bring attention to the problem.

10 Things You Need to Ask Before You Marry Her

Before You Get Married to Her Money

Here's a quick quiz you need to ask your "soul mate" before you even pop the question. The reason for this, is that so many young people ruin their credit, right at 18 and then take 30 years to get it right. With that in mind then, could you be walking into a financial mind field? Oh you bet. You are right.

It would be wise, it would behoove you, to quiz the person about their money, before you go that "next step". It could be a massive fall financially, if you tie the knot, and her creditors come after you. Or, you were planning on buying a house right after marriage, and BLAMMO!! her credit is so bad you can't get a decent rate, or worse, a loan.

I knew a girl who was so far in debt and her attitude was just so ... childish that it boggled my mind. She had a car; wrecked it; still owed on it; let it default; then went back to the same company and they tacked on both car notes to her car. So in essence she was paying for two cars while driving one, she was upside down in the car. And, she didn't even care. She thought it was funny. She was already married at the time. I can't imagine what her husband thought. I didn't know him, nor never met him.

By that example, and some women just use "I'm only a woman" as an excuse to not deal with financial matters. I can't count the times I've heard, "oh my husband takes care of all of that." And, when he dies? She has no clue what to do.

10. You receive a credit card in the mail. It says "free" and "you were preapproved." What do you do with it? The correct answer is - send it back.

9. You see an ad on t.v., at night, selling something you were actually going to go shop for the very next day, and it's $10.00 cheaper, even after shipping and handling. However, the company gives a P.O. BOX address. Do you order the product off the T.V. The correct answer is - go buy the one at the store.

8. Your cousin / nephew / niece asks you to co-sign on a car. You haven't seen them in a few years and you have no idea if they have a job. Do you co-sign the loan? The correct answer is - no.

5. How many cars have you had, and have you ever paid off one, and is the current one paid off or payments up to date? You should never, ever pay for another human's car expenses. If they can't pay for it themselves, that's a warning sign to leave.

3. You live one block away from a ritzy yuppie grocery store and one block away from a dollar grocery store. Of course the food at the dollar grocery store is rather bland, yet healthy. You need a better car to get ahead at your job, since your boss sometimes asks you to drive him / her to staff meetings. Do you scrimp and save and buy from the dollar store? The correct answer is - yes.

2. The latest magazines have crowned bubble bottom jeans as the must have jeans of the year, however, they cost $250. You know some shoes that would match but they cost $213. Your friend is having a party next weekend, and they are always getting on you about the clothes you wear. So far you have $800 [ask her] saved up in your bank account. Do you go buy the jeans and shoes and surprise your friends? The correct answer is - no.

1. If you lost your job today, and had no family, and couldn't get welfare, and couldn't get unemployment, could you go an entire year without finding work, from just your saving account? The correct answer is - yes.

If the girl that has caught your eye, answers any of these questions incorrectly, my advice is to move on. I'm sure love is a great thing and all, but being financially miserable is setting yourself up for a divorce. Those are just cold hard facts. More people get divorced over money than any other subject.

Since you're an adult, think like an adult. If you are going to dedicate yourself to a woman, it's not just physical. When you get married you are agreeing to: dedicate your body; dedicate your mind; dedicate your soul; dedicate your time; and dedicate your pocket book. If you are going to mix your pocket book, you have to know what you're getting into. If the person is just starting out financially, then you have to know how they think about money.

If you have $10,000 in savings it makes no sense to marry a woman that has none. You're not equal and the marriage would be awkward. Keep in mind $10,000 isn't a whole lot of money. But such a small amount is the difference between someone who makes a salary and someone who works hourly. Such a small difference is the difference between someone who doesn't have leisure time, nor leisure money and isn't used to neither one.

I've had friends and I mean a lot of them, whom if I said let's go see Batman and stop for a burger on the way would say "I don't have money". They didn't mean they were saving their money and didn't want to waste it on lunch and a movie. They meant literally they didn't have that much money to spend. Ultimately I had to get a new group of friends. I couldn't be "friends" with people I couldn't hang out with on my level.

Just as you see "lifestyles of the rich and famous" those people wouldn't hang out with me. Nor, could i hop on a jet and meet them in Paris. These are just financial facts.

Don't let your mouth write a check your behind can't cash. Don't get all head over heels in love with some girl AND THEN after the fact find out she's not only broke, but so deep in debt, it affects your credit.

[I include this story for my own selfish reasons, so we never forget the Black pioneers who have gone on. I used to model and still am looking to get back into it. So I'm sure this lady paved the way for me as well.]

Naomi Sims, among first black models, passed at 61.

(AP) – April 2nd
NEW YORK — Naomi Sims, the fashion model who in 1968 became the first black model to appear on the cover of Ladies' Home Journal, has passed. She was 61.

Sims, said by some to be the first black supermodel, passed, Saturday of cancer in Newark, N.J., her son Bob Findlay told The New York Times. It had been decades since she left the runway to become an author and launch her own beauty empire.





Sims attained success at the same time that the "Black is Beautiful" movement was taking hold, and her accomplishments as a barrier-breaking African-American model helped pave the way for the black runway stars of the 1970s, including Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn and Beverly Johnson.





Sims often spoke of her difficult start — as a gangly foster-care kid in Pittsburgh who towered over the other children in her school. In 1966, she came to New York City to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology on scholarship.



When she began approaching modeling agencies, she was turned down again and again — with some telling her that her skin was too dark. Instead of giving up, she pushed forward and approached photographers directly.

The approach landed her the cover of the Times' August 1967 fashion supplement. She used that photo to market herself directly to advertising agencies, and within a year she was earning $1,000 a week and appearing in a national television campaign for AT&T. Before long, she was modeling for top designers.

Sims gave up modeling after five years and launched her own wig-making business geared toward black women. She eventually expanded the multimillion-dollar business to include beauty salons and cosmetics, and she wrote "All About Health and Beauty for the Black Woman" and other books.

Sims was born in Oxford, Miss., in 1948. Her parents divorced soon after she was born and her mother moved Sims and her two sisters to Pittsburgh.

Besides her son, Sims is survived by a sister, Betty, and a granddaughter.

Hate Against Black Men

There is a lot of hate speech, being put forth by women these days, started mainly by white women. Black women and the media have picked up this mantra. The notion is that they were so downtrodden, by men that they had to start a movement. The original version was women's suffrage. Don't get me wrong, women's suffrage is a great thing, however the movement was hijacked by nefarious individuals who had a much broader, yet hidden agenda that had nothing to do with the political and financial equality of women.
