Don't Complain About Being Broke When You're 100% in Debt

Being 100% in Debt

Fact: you can save money, and purchase a house with cash.  Fact: you can save money, and purchase a car with cash.  Fact: you can save money, and furnish your entire house with cash.  Fact: you do not need to move out of your parents house... EVER.  Fact: you do not need to buy a car every 3 years.  Fact: you do not need the latest iphone.  Fact: you do not need a credit card.  Fact: you do not need to go into debt or take out a loan... EVER.

I bet you never hear that.  I bet you only see or hear people say what the "American Dream"™ is.  The truth is the "American Dream"™ has been overtaken and redefined by corporate america. I bet you only hear, that living in a house and taking out a mortgage is "normal".

Imagine if noone had a mortgage?  We wouldn't have had a housing bubble to burst.  Imagine if all notes on homes were carried by the owner of the house, without any bank interruption.  Instead of being upside down in a house with outrageous interest rates, you'd be in a much better house, that you'd take legal possession of from day one, with a very low interest rate, if any.

But, people buy into the lie that is the current Consumer Economy™ and think that they have to put their neck on the chopping block and live the Lifestyle.  What's worse, is that people buy into this lie and then complain when they figure out that they cannot afford it.

You have only yourself to blame:

  • when you buy a car every 3 years.
  • when you take out a loan to buy a house
  • when you take out loans to purchase major appliances
  • when you take out a loan to furnish your house
  • when you buy the latest iPhone
  • when you buy the latest video game
  • when you buy the latest laptop
  • when you buy the latest fashion
  • when you eat out daily
  • when you buy ready made food
  • when you waste water and electricity
  • when you do not help less fortunate than yourself
The US is not in a recovery.  The government is feeding you a line to make sure you stay in line, purchasing.  The government is  feeding you a line, to make sure you vote them back into office.  The government is feeding you a line, to make sure you vote republican / democrat.  The government is feeding you a line, to make sure you don't revolt at them unconstitutionally sending troops into a country's civil war.  The government is controlled by wallstreet and you are being fed line after line to believe in the government.

Christmas Should Be More About Family and Food Than Gifts and Debt

Going Into Debt Over Christmas

They are going to try to get you to spend all your money you made this entire year in one shopping period, Christmas.  It is where they spend the most time and money for marketing.  But, if this economic period has not awakened you to how our country is completely upside down, then you truly need to wake up.  First of all, understand what the "holiday" is.  Christmas is the Christian observance of the birth of their messiah.  It is a strictly religious holiday.  If you're not Christian, you shouldn't even be observing the holiday to begin with.  However, because Americans have such a herd mentality, even Atheists buy their children presents on Christmas, because "everyone does it."

If you're not Christian, you shouldn't even be observing the holiday to begin with.

What's more is that, the Christian Messiah wasn't even born in December.  He was born in June.

Dies Natalis Solis Invicti

Sol Invictus was the official sun god of the later Roman empire. The religion was created by Aurelian in 274, who made it an official religion alongside the traditional Roman religions. Scholars disagree whether the new deity was a refoundation of the ancient Latin religion of Sol, a revival of the religion of Elagabalus or completely new. The god was favoured by emperors after Aurelian and appeared on their coins until Constantine. The last inscription referring to Sol Invictus dates to 387 AD. and there were enough devotees in the 5th century that Augustine found it necessary to preach against them. A festival on 25 Dec. is sometimes thought to be responsible for the date of Christmas.

The Roman gens Aurelian was associated with the religion of Sol. After his victories in the East, the emperor Aurelian thoroughly reformed the Roman religion of Sol, elevating the sun-god to one of the premier divinities of the empire. Where previously a priests of Sol had been simply sacerdotes and tended to belong to lower ranks of Roman society, they were now pontifices and members of the new college of pontifices instituted by Aurelian. Every pontifex of Sol was a member of the senatorial elite, indicating that the priesthood of Sol was now highly prestigious. Almost all these senators held other priesthoods as well, however, and some of these other priesthoods take precedence in the inscriptions in which they are listed, suggesting that they were considered more prestigious than the priesthood of Sol. Aurelian also built a new temple for Sol, bringing the total number of temples for the god in Rome to (at least) four. He also instituted games in honor of the sun god, held every four years from AD 274 onwards.

The confusion surrounding Aurelian's reforms has been significant, much of it rooted in the mistaken opinion that he was introducing a new religion, which, as is now clear, he was not. The following constitute the most common errors of fact attributed to Aurelian and his reforms.

Aurelian called his sun god Sol Invictus to differentiate him from the earlier Roman god Sol.

Actually, Aurelian is twice as likely to call Sol Oriens on his coins as he is Sol Invictus.  Only one of the fifteen or so pontifices of Sol adds the epithet invictus; all others simply call themselves "pontifex Solis".

Aurelian built his new temple for a Syrian sun god, not the Roman one.

There is no credible evidence to support this, and ample evidence to refute it. The "Syrian Sol-hypothesis" is therefore now rejected by all specialists in the field.

Aurelian inaugurated his new temple dedicated to Sol Invictus and held the first games for Sol on December 25, 274, on the supposed day of the winter solstice and day of rebirth of the Sun.

This is not only pure conjecture, but goes against the best evidence available. There is no record of celebrating Sol on December 25 prior to CE 354/362. Hijmans lists the known festivals of Sol as August 8 and/or 9, August 28, and December 11. There are no sources that indicate on which day Aurelian inaugurated his temple and held the first games for Sol, but we do know that these games were held every four years from CE 274 onwards. This means that they were presumably held in CE 354, a year for which perchance a Roman calendar, the Chronography of 354 (or calendar of Filocalus), has survived. This calendar lists a festival for Sol and Luna on August 28, Ludi Solis (games for Sol) for October 19–22, and a Natalis Invicti (birthday of the invincible one) on December 25. While it is widely assumed that the invictus of December 25 is Sol, the calendar does not state this explicitly. The only explicit reference to a celebration of Sol in late December is made by Julian the Apostate in his hymn to King Helios written immediately afterwards in early CE 363. Julian explicitly differentiates between the one-day, annual celebration of late December 362 and the multi-day quadrennial games of Sol which, of course, had also been held in 362, but clearly at a different time. Taken together, the evidence of the Calendar of Filocalus and Julian's hymn to Helios clearly shows, according to Hijmans and others, that the ludi of October 19–22 were the Solar Games instituted by Aurelian. They presumably coincided with the dedication of his new temple for Sol.

After Aurelian, Sol became supreme deity of the Roman Empire.

Therefore, if you, as a Christian, celebrate December 25th as the birth of your messiah, you are celebrating a pagan holiday and not the actual birth of the messiah.  And, how was the pagan holiday observed?  By gift giving!

The exchanging of gifts is one of the core aspects of the modern Christmas celebration, making the Christmas season the most profitable time of year for retailers and businesses throughout the world. Gift giving was common in the Roman celebration of Saturnalia, an ancient festival which took place in late December and may have influenced Christmas customs. Christmas gift giving was banned by the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages due to its suspected pagan origins. It was later rationalized by the Church on the basis that it associated St. Nicholas with Christmas, and that gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh were given to the infant Jesus by the Biblical Magi.

I don't think any more evidence need be put forth for the argument that what Christians are being taught as being the most holy day of their religion, is an actual pagan celebration, with a pagan ritual of gift giving.

It can be said that people going into debt, in general, just to give gifts deserve what they get.  I am here to tell you that there is another way.

I think a new tradition for Christmas should be started: paying off debts.  That means, instead of buying gifts and giving them away, families should come together and try to pay off or pay down debts, so the entire family prospers.  If you truly are Christian, there could be no more appropriate observance of the messiah that forgave all our debts, than a ritual paying off of debts.

A Jewish friend once told me that it is ungodly to be in debt to another man.

Proverbs 22:

7. The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

22. Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court,

23. for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them.

26. Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts;

27. if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.

I don't think I could warn you any more than this.

What is the Single Most Effective Way You Personally Can Help Get America Out of this Economic Depression

What Can You Do

I do not think a lot of people are aware of what is really going on with the economy right now. They do not want to hear any more about the economy. They do not want to watch the news talk about the economy. But, the truth of the matter is, regardless of all the speeches, talks and news broadcasts, not one person is telling you: what really is going on; why it is going on; and what you can do to stop it. I have already gone over in my economic blog what were some of the reason of this economic depression. What I would like to discuss today is what you can do personally to take control of your financial destiny, AND in so doing it, help your fellow citizen take control of his financial destiny by proxy.

You might be wondering, why you would be influenced to help your fellow citizen take control of his financial destiny. The answer is simple. By doing what I am about to reveal to you, you are helping yourself. If just 30% of the population helps themselves, this economic depression will be over.

10 Things You Need to Ask Before You Marry Her

Before You Get Married to Her Money

Here's a quick quiz you need to ask your "soul mate" before you even pop the question. The reason for this, is that so many young people ruin their credit, right at 18 and then take 30 years to get it right. With that in mind then, could you be walking into a financial mind field? Oh you bet. You are right.

It would be wise, it would behoove you, to quiz the person about their money, before you go that "next step". It could be a massive fall financially, if you tie the knot, and her creditors come after you. Or, you were planning on buying a house right after marriage, and BLAMMO!! her credit is so bad you can't get a decent rate, or worse, a loan.

I knew a girl who was so far in debt and her attitude was just so ... childish that it boggled my mind. She had a car; wrecked it; still owed on it; let it default; then went back to the same company and they tacked on both car notes to her car. So in essence she was paying for two cars while driving one, she was upside down in the car. And, she didn't even care. She thought it was funny. She was already married at the time. I can't imagine what her husband thought. I didn't know him, nor never met him.

By that example, and some women just use "I'm only a woman" as an excuse to not deal with financial matters. I can't count the times I've heard, "oh my husband takes care of all of that." And, when he dies? She has no clue what to do.

The Pre-engagement Quiz

10. You receive a credit card in the mail. It says "free" and "you were preapproved." What do you do with it? The correct answer is - send it back.

9. You see an ad on t.v., at night, selling something you were actually going to go shop for the very next day, and it's $10.00 cheaper, even after shipping and handling. However, the company gives a P.O. BOX address. Do you order the product off the T.V. The correct answer is - go buy the one at the store.

8. Your cousin / nephew / niece asks you to co-sign on a car. You haven't seen them in a few years and you have no idea if they have a job. Do you co-sign the loan? The correct answer is - no.

7. Do you have a savings account?

6. Do you have a C.D.? [certificate of deposit]

5. How many cars have you had, and have you ever paid off one, and is the current one paid off or payments up to date? You should never, ever pay for another human's car expenses. If they can't pay for it themselves, that's a warning sign to leave.

4. Her living situation might be temporary so it's not adequate to ask about that. However, the ideal woman may be purchasing a house. If she is renting however: How much is your rent? How much do you make? Is your rent current? You should never, ever pay for another human's living expenses. If they can't pay for it themselves, that's a warning sign to leave.

3. You live one block away from a ritzy yuppie grocery store and one block away from a dollar grocery store. Of course the food at the dollar grocery store is rather bland, yet healthy. You need a better car to get ahead at your job, since your boss sometimes asks you to drive him / her to staff meetings. Do you scrimp and save and buy from the dollar store? The correct answer is - yes.

2. The latest magazines have crowned bubble bottom jeans as the must have jeans of the year, however, they cost $250. You know some shoes that would match but they cost $213. Your friend is having a party next weekend, and they are always getting on you about the clothes you wear. So far you have $800 [ask her] saved up in your bank account. Do you go buy the jeans and shoes and surprise your friends? The correct answer is - no.

1. If you lost your job today, and had no family, and couldn't get welfare, and couldn't get unemployment, could you go an entire year without finding work, from just your saving account? The correct answer is - yes.

If the girl that has caught your eye, answers any of these questions incorrectly, my advice is to move on. I'm sure love is a great thing and all, but being financially miserable is setting yourself up for a divorce. Those are just cold hard facts. More people get divorced over money than any other subject.

Since you're an adult, think like an adult. If you are going to dedicate yourself to a woman, it's not just physical. When you get married you are agreeing to: dedicate your body; dedicate your mind; dedicate your soul; dedicate your time; and dedicate your pocket book. If you are going to mix your pocket book, you have to know what you're getting into. If the person is just starting out financially, then you have to know how they think about money.

If you have $10,000 in savings it makes no sense to marry a woman that has none. You're not equal and the marriage would be awkward. Keep in mind $10,000 isn't a whole lot of money. But such a small amount is the difference between someone who makes a salary and someone who works hourly. Such a small difference is the difference between someone who doesn't have leisure time, nor leisure money and isn't used to neither one.

I've had friends and I mean a lot of them, whom if I said let's go see Batman and stop for a burger on the way would say "I don't have money". They didn't mean they were saving their money and didn't want to waste it on lunch and a movie. They meant literally they didn't have that much money to spend. Ultimately I had to get a new group of friends. I couldn't be "friends" with people I couldn't hang out with on my level.

Just as you see "lifestyles of the rich and famous" those people wouldn't hang out with me. Nor, could i hop on a jet and meet them in Paris. These are just financial facts.

Don't let your mouth write a check your behind can't cash. Don't get all head over heels in love with some girl AND THEN after the fact find out she's not only broke, but so deep in debt, it affects your credit.
