Global Warning Scientist Found to Be Fraudulent

Arctic Scientist Under Investigation

By BECKY BOHRER - Associated Press | AP

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Just five years ago, Charles Monnett was one of the scientists whose observation that several polar bears had drowned in the Arctic Ocean helped galvanize the global warming movement.

A Polar Bear Doesn't Bleed from Drowning
Now, the wildlife biologist is on administrative leave and facing accusations of scientific misconduct.

The federal agency where he works told him he was on leave pending the results of an investigation into "integrity issues." A watchdog group believes it has to do with the 2006 journal article about the bear, but a source familiar with the investigation said late Thursday that placing Monnett on leave had nothing to with scientific integrity or the article.

The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation, wouldn't comment further.

The watchdog, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, filed a complaint on Monnett's behalf Thursday with the agency, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.

Investigators have not yet told Monnett of the specific charges or questions related to the scientific integrity of his work, said Jeff Ruch, the watchdog group's executive director. His group released excerpts of interviews investigators conducted with Monnett and fellow researcher Jeffrey Gleason, in which they were questioned about the observations that led to the article.

Whatever the outcome, the investigation comes at a time when climate change activists and those who are skeptical about global warming are battling over the credibility of scientists' work.

Members of both sides, however, said that it was too early to make any pronouncements about the case, particularly since the agency has not yet released the details of the allegations against him.

Myron Ebell, of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said the case reinforces the group's position that people should be more skeptical about the work of climate change scientists.

A Polar Bear Can Swim for 60 Miles
Even if every scientist is objective, "what we're being asked to do is turn our economy around and spend trillions and trillions of dollars on the basis of" climate change claims, he said.

Francesca Grifo, director of the scientific integrity program for the Union of Concerned Scientists, said she's not alarmed by the handling of the case so far.

Grifo said the allegations made in the complaint filed by Ruch's group are premature and said people should wait to see what, if anything, comes of the inspector general's investigation.

Beyond the climate change debate, the investigation also focuses attention on an Obama administration policy intended to protect scientists from political interference.

The complaint seeks Monnett's reinstatement and a public apology from the agency and inspector general, whose office is conducting the probe.

The group's filing also seeks to have the investigation dropped or to have the charges specified and the matter carried out quickly and fairly, as the Obama policy states.

BOEMRE, which oversees leasing and development of offshore drilling, was created last year in the reorganization of the Interior Department's Minerals Management Service, which oversaw offshore drilling.

The MMS was abolished after the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The agency was accused of being too close to oil and gas industry interests. A congressional report last year found MMS Alaska was vulnerable to lawsuits and allegations of scientific misconduct.

The agency announced steps to improve.

The Polar Bear Report was a Scam
On July 18, BOEMRE told the longtime Anchorage-based Monnett that he was being put on leave, pending the investigation, according to the complaint. BOEMRE has barred Monnett from speaking to reporters, Ruch said.

Monnett could not immediately be reached Thursday.

His wife, Lisa Rotterman, a fellow scientist who worked with Monnett for years, including at BOEMRE's predecessor agency, said the case did not come out of the blue.

Rotterman said Monnett had come under fire in the past within the agency for speaking the truth about what the science showed. She said the 2006 article wasn't framed in the context of climate change but was relevant to the topic.

She feared what happened to Monnett would send a "chilling message" at the agency just as important oil and gas development decisions in the Arctic will soon be made.

"I don't believe the timing is coincidental," she said.

Rotterman said Monnett's work included identifying questions that needed to be answered to inform the environmental analyses the agency must conduct before issuing drilling permits.

"This is a time when sowing doubt in the public's mind about whether those findings can be trusted or not, that makes people think, I don't know what to believe," she said.

Monnett coordinated much of BOEMRE's research on Arctic wildlife and ecology, had duties that included managing about $50 million worth of studies, according to the complaint.

The agency said other scientists would manage the studies in his absence.

Cinder Blocks around the Necks of Polar Bears was Suspicious
According to documents provided by Ruch's group, which sat in on investigators' interviews with Monnett, the questioning focused on observations that he and researcher Jeffrey Gleason made in 2004.

At the time, they were conducting an aerial survey of bowhead whales, and saw four dead polar bears floating in the water after a storm. There were other witnesses, according to Ruch, and low-resolution photos show floating white blobs.

Monnett and Gleason detailed their observations in an article published two years later in the journal Polar Biology. In the peer-reviewed article, they said they were reporting, to the best of their knowledge, the first observations of the bears floating dead and presumed drowned while apparently swimming long distances.

Polar bears are considered strong swimmers, they wrote, but long-distance swims may exact a greater metabolic toll than standing or walking on ice in better weather.

They said their observations suggested the bears drowned in rough seas and high winds. They also added that the findings "suggest that drowning-related deaths of polar bears may increase in the future if the observed trend of regression of pack ice and/or longer open water periods continues."

The article and presentations drew national attention and helped make the polar bear a symbol for the global warming movement. Former vice president and climate change activist Al Gore mentioned the animal in his Oscar-winning global warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth."

2001 - 2010 Sees Record Low Temperatures
The complaint said agency officials harassed Gleason and Monnett, and that they received negative comments after the journal article. Gleason took another Interior Department job; he didn't respond to an email and a BOEMRE spokeswoman said he wouldn't be available for comment.

In May 2008, the bear was classified as a threatened species, the first with its survival at risk due to global warming.

According to a transcript, provided by Ruch's group, Ruch asked investigator Eric May, during questioning of Monnett in February, for specifics about the allegations. May replied: "well, scientific misconduct, basically, uh, wrong numbers, uh, miscalculations."

Monnett said that alleging scientific misconduct "suggests that we did something deliberately to deceive or to, to change it. Um, I sure don't see any indication of that in what you're asking me about."

I Am Not a Teabagger

A Message to Obama Worshipers

*sigh* I've said it before, but apparently, I was ignored.  I AM BLACK.  I VOTED FOR OBAMA.  However, I have a political science degree and can see quite easily what is going on in the country.

Blacks are approaching nearly 50% unemployment.  There has NOT been a pull from Iraq and Afghanistan.  We have lost millions upon millions of jobs.  The dollar has not only sunk to a new low, but is in danger of DEFAULTING EVEN MORE.  Yes, that's right, WE'VE ALREADY DEFAULTED YEARS AGO.

If you have a college degree, even in liberal arts, you'll easily be able to see that Obama has done everything in his power to staff his cabinet with wall street heavy hitters, not just the peons, but the heavy hitters.

I was also registered democrat.  But, with a modicum of homework, I quickly realized that the two parties are one and the same.  *GASP* oh shocking... oh my zeitgeist is come crashing down around my ears, democrats and republicans can't be the same.  Oh, come on.  Really?  You can't be in that much denial.

Anything Bush did, is long gone.  This is the 3rd year of this guy's term of office.  He has signed into law, much legislation of his own.  Also, he was never forced to sign into law anything that was going on during the Bush term.  You do recall that Bush was a Republican and this guy is a Democrat.

I don't need to go into a brief history lesson of how Clinton did not sign into law anything that his Republican predecessor arranged.

Come on, you all are smarter than this.  There have been Black women, men, on this page, Latinos and others who are OBVIOUSLY not republicans.  We are all saying the same thing.  This president is not speaking for the people, he is speaking for wall street.  In fact, Bush wasn't even Republican.  At the end the Republican party and congress fought him tooth and nail.  WHY? Because, he too, was a corporatist.  He ramped up the deficit higher than any democrat / republican preceding him.  This guy is doing the same exact thing.

Give up.  Take your licking and admit that you were duped.  Remember, Obama is POLITICIAN.  Who cares about his speaking abilities when china is raping us, jobs are flooding out of the country, food prices are skyrocketing and the darling of the Democratic party of issues, SOCIAL SECURITY, is the first thing on the chopping block.  What's worse is he has committed unconstitutional crimes over and over and over.

The time for giving him a pass is way over.  Who cares that he's half Black.  Who cares that he's articulate.  Who cares that the country was bad under Bush.  I have a clue for you.  Bush wasn't the cause of the housing bubble.  We Americans were the cause of the housing bubble.  Bush wasn't the cause of this economic depression.  We were the cause of this economic depression.  Bush wasn't the cause of jobs hemorrhaging out of the US.  We were the cause.

For all the blame that I, personally, laid at Bush's feet, the reality was that he no more caused it, than I did.  In fact, the housing bubble started under Reagan, skyrocketed under Clinton and came to a halt under Bush.

For all the bleeding and weeping we have for these people losing their homes, at the end of the day, it is their own greed that got them into it.  Do you think for a second that someone purchasing a $30,000 home EVER got into trouble?  Do you think someone that paid CASH for their home, [ oh an yes 30% of homes are STILL paid for in cash, like everyone did in the 30's 40's and 50's ] got into trouble?

Obama is not special.  He doesn't deserve your worship.  He deserves your scrutiny.  And, do NOT rely on the news to do your thinking for you.

I offer you an olive branch.  Without you, the country cannot be healed.  If the millions of Obama worshipers do not quickly wise up, we are going to be plunged into the worst nightmare, even this current session could not hold a match to.  Please, just stop the Obama worship and think for a second about what is going on.  The wars, the money, the budget, the drop in the dollar, the wall street CONTINUOUS bailouts, the food inflation, the energy inflation, the middle class slipping into poverty, the staggering job loss.

There is an alternative, to this two party monopoly.

The United States to Remove Itself from the United Nations

Getting Out of the United Nations

United Nations leader sentenced in corruption scandal. Department head at United Nations caught in falsifying evidence. Policy chief exposed for trying to defraud general assembly at United Nations (UN). European Union forms Eurozone. India, China, Brazil and Russia believe they can form their own little U.N. and the block can really control the world resources, talent and even finances. At a time like this congress proposes that the United States excuse itself from United Nations membership. The body is now rife with corruption and filled with petty dictators that the depth of taint is unassailable. Not only can nothing be done, but nothing can be done with any sense of trust that the facts can trusted. President George W. Bush going before the United Nations and presenting completely false evidence of weapon of mass destruction found in Iraq was the nail in the coffin. When the last standing super power shows a complete lack of respect for the body and shows evidence of corruption the rest of the body was not long for a complete autopsy. While Bush's corruption did not single-handedly corrupt the entire U.N., he did put the capstone on it.

Follow Kevin_Cardinale on Twitter

At 28% of its operating cost, in the billions of dollars annually, America cannot afford to be a part of the now defunct body. With the latest scandal of the swine flu hoax and the global warming hoax revealed, Congress is hard pressed to continue justifying paying so much money to be a part of the circus. Governor Mike Huckabee and others have all thrown in the towel on the organization and congress has taken steps to excuse us from this tainted organization.

The straw that broke the camel's back, as if more straws were needed, was found when it was revealed that the general assembly has now adopted a Hegelian world policy, i.e. removal of national governments in favor of a one world government, all national sovereignty to be removed, by force if necessary.

Congress, in its infinite wisdom, has finally seen the writing on the wall. The story was leaked by the U.S. Department of State. Apparently, it was an act done out of their own self preservation. Had the leak not happened, it is unclear how long this would have been kept from the public. Specifically what was leaked was the fact that clear evidence was shown that the U.N. has adopted this united government stance and they are poised to act on it.

Conclusion

There are not many things I agree with Congress on, but this one subject I do. The United States cannot be a party to a body that is espouses a Hegelian world policy, forcibly removing national governments. I am pretty sure that our government might resist this. I don't know. Politicians are pretty stupid, but are they that stupid? I cannot imagine Harry Reid just stepping aside, just because.

Can you imagine if U.N. "peacekeepers" descended on Washington and removed Congress? I don't know if I would cheer or be mad.

When Reagan removed us out of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), I wonder why he didn't just remove us from the U.N. altogether. He did it quietly and there was not much press on the matter. He could have quietly excused us and no one would have said anything.

Crowds Seeking Aid in Haiti Met With Pepper Spray and Rubber Bullets

It Was Just a Matter of Time Before They Started Killing Black Folk

United Nations troops used pepper spray yesterday to hold off a crowd of hungry Haitians queueing for food at a makeshift camp in the grounds of the wrecked presidential palace.

“They’re not violent, just desperate. They just want to eat,” Fernando Soares, a Brazilian army colonel, said. “The problem is, there is not enough food for everyone.”

The UN’s Brazilian troops are experienced — they have been stationed in Haiti for years — but they were struggling to hold the line. As they began deploying the pepper spray, the crowd broke up and ran back across the road coughing, eyes streaming.

Raoul Gai, 36, pulled his T-shirt over the head of Dalima, 9, his daughter, as she cried and spluttered. “They are giving food but I don’t like the way they are doing it,” he said.

Yesterday, the 14th day after the Haitian earthquake, the World Food Programme (WFP) was trying to deliver 107 cubic tons of rice and oil and beans to the starving of Port-au-Prince, enough to feed 20,000 people for 15 days. Two rice trucks were heading for the palace.

The Real Story Behind the Pepper Spray and Rubber Bullets

Here's my beef. I knew it would be just a matter of time before they started massacring these people. Europeans coming into their country is a bad thing, all the way around. They are not going to just give away food, regardless how bad and sad the average world citizen feels for these people. Apparently this rubber bullets and pepper spray thing has been going on from the very beginning.

The president of Haiti needs to remove the "peacekeepers" out of the country completely. They need to be removed if Haiti is ever to maintain its sovereignty. The president of Haiti also need to denounce and remove all trade treaties. He needs to implement tariffs on all imports into the country. He needs to implement a policy of Haiti first. Otherwise his country is going to CONTINUE to starve. They have been starving BEFORE the earthquake. The earthquake is simply being used as an excuse to execute an agenda that was in place well before the event.

If you know a friend of a friend of a friend that knows the president of Haiti, have him contact me. I will set the record straight and show him how his he and his own people are being used. It is unheard of that in the aftermath of a natural disaster that there should be "peacekeepers" brought into a country. "Peacekeepers" are normally sent in under the pretext of warfare. Where's the warfare here?

All of this aid that is going to Haiti is not used to REBUILD Haiti. The aid is simply used to give and hand out food. And, they aren't even doing that. They have trucks with tons of food and they are parceling it out to great mass panic and disturbances as an excuse to then call in the peacekeepers to spray and shoot them.

To what end?

So that when they officially or unofficially invade they can point to these instances and say "see it's chaos down here and we need to settle it." All as an excuse to kill off this rich Black nation. There should be no reason that Hatians should be starving. Haiti used to be one of the countries that fed the world, along with the U.S. and other countries.

Doctors Told to Leave Haiti by the United Nations

In a final act of total evil, the U.N. ordered all the doctors to leave Haiti. CNN broke the story. The U.N. then tried to cover up the story and say they did not order the doctors to leave and that it was the doctors own will to leave. It is obvious when the doctors come up to Dr. Sanjay Gupta that they don't want to go but point out where the supplies are and the patients are, that it is not the doctors own will.

The only reason I think Dr. Gupta was left out of the loop is because he is not only a doctor, but has "reporter" status and thus cannot be ordered around. As I said, the U.N. tried to impliment damage control on their P.R. and say it was not them that ordered the doctors to leave. However it was too late. Several news organizations reported on the order once CNN broke the news.

If this does not prove how vile and evil the U.N. is, I don't know what will. Even Anderson Cooper reported that people were dying needlessly down there. When pressed what he meant by needlessly, he remarked that people are dying from mere infections that simple antibiotics could cure; that diseases are being allowed to spread throughout the body unabated.

Finally the U.N. is not distributing the aid money to Haiti. This has been reported and remarked on by several news organizations. The money is literally vanishing. The amount of money raise, compared to the amount of aid received as pennies on the dollar. People are sending enough to feed the entire country lobster and steak and mere rice and beans are being rationed to just Port au Prince. The money is just vanishing and no one is accounting for it.
