Movie Review: Meeting Evil

"When John Fleton (Luke Wilson), a depressed suburban family man and recently fired realtor, offers to help a stranger, Richie (Samuel Jackson), with his car, John is sucked into a surreal, nightmarish murder spree that forces him to question everything about his life, his mode of behavior, and the very nature of evil."

If you thought this was a cerebral thriller, you were wrong. It gets a 1 star from every critic and even audiences didn't like it. Samuel Jackson obviously is trying to pad his paycheck by doing these horrible films.

On the one hand it is good to see a Black person as the villain, with intelligence and more to him than just shooting and cursing, however Samuel Jackson has only one setting for his acting, shooting and cursing.

The film pretends it's a psychological thriller, but it ends up being nothing more than a hired killer turned good guy, turned bad guy, turned good guy. And, of course in the end the white people turn on the Black guy, even in the face of the Black guy revealing that the truly guilty person is the white woman. And the only other Black person in the movie ends up killing him. That's what Hollywood wants to beat into our brains: Black on Black crime.

Oh and there is a scene straight out of gone with the wind, where the white woman Joanie (Leslie Bibb), the wife, is flanked by her children and tells off the negro she-cop Latisha (Tracie Thoms). Subconsciously it says "the white woman put the nigger woman in her place", once again. The irony is that the audience is mislead into rooting for the white woman, but we are later shamed because the truly evil person in the movie is this same white woman.

The scene was unnecessary and lent nothing to the movie. It did not lead to anything else following it. It was simply put in the movie to hammer home the idea and visual that the 90lb white woman put a nigger in her place, even though she was a police officer.

The entire movie is formulaic and as a Black man, we are still subconsciously put in our place. You cannot just have the killer, happen to be Black. The racial undertones were blatant and obvious: nigger stay in your place. But, then again, that is nearly every Hollywood movie, isn't it?

Assassination Attempt on Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

Congresswoman Still Sedated After Gunman's Attack

By PAULINE ARRILLAGA, Associated Press TUCSON, Ariz. – Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remained heavily sedated and in critical condition Sunday as investigators sought to understand what motivated a gunman to carry out an assassination attempt on the Democratic lawmaker in a rampage that killed six people.

University Medical Center spokeswoman Darci Slaten told The Associated Press that Giffords underwent a two-hour surgery Saturday and has not been conscious since the shooting. She said more information will be released at a news conference in which one of the doctors who operated on Giffords plans to speak.

Outside of the hospital, candles flickered at a makeshift memorial. Signs read "Peace + love are stronger," "God bless America and "We love you, Gabrielle." People also laid down bouquets of flowers, American flags and pictures of Giffords.

"This video shows a search warrant served by the Columbia Mo. police department. The cops bust in this guys house in the middle of the night and shoot his two dogs (one a pit bull that was caged in the kitchen and the other a Corgi) with children in the home. It turns out that rather than a big time drug dealer, this guy had a small pipe with some resin in it, a grinder, and what the cops here call "a small amount of marijuana" (meaning less than a few grams). Dexter Season Finale Leaves Audience Twisting in the Wind

Dexter vs. Trinity

Well you know Dexter and Trinity had to come to its ultimate climax. And, you knew Debra couldn't leave well enough alone and had to dig up Dexter's past and confront him with it. But, did we all know the last 3 minutes of the episode would leave us twisting in the wind? Here we are sitting thinking that Dexter is going to kill his arch-nemesis in Trinity and live happily ever after. But then, why would we tune in for the next season? I mean it's a great scene that Dexter butchers up the venerable serial killer Trinity, but that doesn't leaven any hook for next season.



At the beginning of the episode Dexter is nearly comical. Trinity has him completely befuddled and confused. His inner demon tries to shake some sense into him, to no avail. He decks poor Quinn, who is just trying to do his job. But, can you blame Dexter? Trinity finds out who Dexter really is, name, address, social security number, oh and uh... wife and kids.

Dexter tries to chase down Trinity in a car chase scene about as good as ... well as intriguing as I would have directed, and that's a huge insult. In the scene he clips a guy's rear view mirror. [foreshadowing] "I'll deal with that later", Dexter says. He catches Trinity unawares, drugs him, throws him in the back of his "come here little girl I got some candy"-van and is about to get away with everything when suddenly....

The rear view mirror guy shows up with 2 cops. Enter new scene with the worst acting, and unrealism in history. Dexter flashes his forensics badge to no avail and the cops actually arrest him, regardless of his telling them he's on a crime investigation 'IN PROGRESS'. Let me repeat this, Dexter says, "I'm in progress of chasing down a suspect right now". And, the police quip "that might work up-town but at the sheriff's office it doesn't work." Come again? Did they even run that scene by a police at all? I mean they coulda just stopped a traffic cop and had him look that over and he would have shut-er-down. There's no accounting to talent in Hollywood. *sigh* So Dexter is landed in actual jail, away from drugged up Trinity. Oh and apparently Trinity has emptied all of his bank accounts, hmmm going somewhere?

His inner demon appears to him while in jail. Once again, it asks, "what are you doing," which is the same question audiences are asking right about now. I mean, is this the same smooth Dexter that I've been watching all season? [was the writing this bad all season?]

The next scene fast forwards through 5 hours in 15 minutes. Ready? Dexter is bailed out by his wife, who wants to go on a honeymoon, since the kids, except for the infant, are all going to be in Disneyland. They argue over his being in jail and what is going on and why don't you open up to me. [typical movie-girl BS] Dexter convinces her to go on ahead to the honeymoon, while he finishes up. Dexter returns to the kiddie porn van to find Trinity gone. But, Dexter reaches up in the ceiling of the parking lot where he hid all of Trinity's money. Trinity is shown coming home and terrorizing his family to give him everything valuable. We have a brief battered-wife scene between the wife and eldest son, but nothing comes of it. Dexter shows up minutes later to ask where Trinity is. Wife is is still whiny and is casually talking to him, with the son, who is the only one with some balls, when suddenly!!!!! The police swat team busts through the front door. Dexter narrowly slips out the back. Dexter emerges from a coffin in the garage and plays it cool when the police come in.

Start scene with Debra confronting Dexter about his long lost brother, whom we find is non other than the Ice Truck Killer. Debra however doesn't actually know anything about Dexter. Because of course she's too stupid to put 2 and 2 together. Dexter is self doubting and says she would be better off without him in her life. To which she retorts, "it's because of you that I am the person I am today." [I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but she apparently thinks it is.]

But wait, Debra was the one that helped a little kidnapped kid remember Trinity, or the logo to his charitable organization. She singlehandedly tracked down that it was Trinity doing the mass murders, which is why the police burst through the doors.

Ok, all that's over and finally we get to Dexter being the pink panther he always was. Trinity has fixed his car, and had it repainted. We saw Dexter earlier at the police break-in, notice the smashed car window of the Mustang. [foreshadowing] It is now night time and Trinity suddenly gets car trouble. It is a dark and deserted road. Suddenly Dexter jumps him. Flash to a scene with Trinity naked and taped to a table. [did we really need to say a naked, old John Lithgow?] They have the father son, Darth Vader - I know more than you do - serial killer conversation. Trinity asks Dexter, "do you think you're better than me?" Dexter of course says no. Dexter asks, "what's the other option, disappear and start life over somewhere else?" To which, Trinity replies, "no, you'll still be you." Hack, slack, smack, saw saw saw, whirrrr, buzzz. Trinity is now in neat little bags and thrown into the ocean, off the back of Dexter's boat.

Hmmm, that was a boring episode, to say it's a finale. But, wait, there's 3 minutes left. Dexter comes home to start packing to meat his blushing bride on their honeymoon. He gets a message on his phone, which apparently AT&T really sucks at delivering on time, since the message was like 4 hours old, She came home because she forgot her I.D. We assume she popped in and went back out. He calls her phone to say he's on his way. But, the phone rings 2 feet in front of him, in her purse. Suddenly!!! The infant starts crying. He goes into the bathroom to find the infant [spotlight] sitting in a pool of blood. Rita is in the tub dead in a tub filled with blood. Dexter flash backs to his own childhood where he was found sitting in a pool of blood and the police officer picks him up and puts him over his shoulder. Dexter goes over to his infant son, picks him up and puts him over his shoulder. [end]

Meh, if better people wrote this, this finale would have been superb. I sat in a chat room with about 700 other people. We were booing throughout the performance. The writing took away from the story. I mean come on, John Lightgow?

Afterwards Dexter [don't know his name] and John Lithgow gives some insights to the episodes. The two were more eloquent than the episode itself. Their analysis of the episode was more compelling than any of the writing. So what that Trinity killed Rita. We all knew he was going to do it. The entire plot was Dexter trying to avoid him getting to her. So where is the surprise that he killed her? That's not quite a twist. But, I guess for the more stupid viewers it was a twist they didn't expect.

Black People Need Lawyers

Open Season to Kill Black Men

It's in the news all the time. You see cell phone camera videos of cops shooting Black men, hand cuffed, on the ground, face down, in the back of the head. You see cops tasering Black men to death, using a taser till they stop breathing. I'm sure several videos just popped in to mind if you've been paying attention at all.

Police Code of Conduct

"A police officer acts as an official representative of government who is required and trusted to work within the law. The officer’s powers and duties are conferred by statute. The fundamental duties of a police officer include serving the community, safeguarding lives and property, protecting the innocent, keeping the peace and ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality and justice."

Does this shock you that this is the actual code of conduct? How many times have you seen police approach someone and immediately taser, punch, kick or pull a gun on them. And, this is with the citizen's hands being up.

These actions by police are not just done by a few, but they are the normal operating procedure of every policeman I know or have witnessed. This code of conduct is completely ignored.

I had one ex-cop, who quit due to his conscious, said that his department, and all departments in his city expected you to be violent with suspects. He quit when he lost his temper with a suspect and threw him crashing head first into a car, while the suspect was in hand cuffs. The reason he quit? Everyone in the police department clapped.

Why are so many Black men being killed by police? Why are they being murdered by those who are supposed to uphold and enforce the law? Because, they can get away with it.

Solution


Lawyers. Every Black person, when involved with the police, needs to immediately retain the services of an attorney. Let me repeat that in a very real and serious way:

To participate in the American lifestyle, to take advantage of the freedoms afforded U.S. citizens, to safeguard your rights and freedoms, to protect yourself from a lawless, racist, group of blood thirsty thugs, every Black person needs to immediately retain a lawyer.

Forget these jokes about how lawyers are villains or scum or evil, lawyers get the job done. Haven't you seen the movies where the cops were angry because the "slur got himself a lawyer". Lawyers are the great equalizer.

Black people don't need hand outs. Black people don't need social programs. Black people don't need the NAACP. Black people don't need Islam. Black people don't need affirmative action. Black people need lawyers, attorneys, criminal defense specialists, DUI specialists.

Don't call Al Sharpton. Don't call Jessie Jackson. Don't call Louis Farrakhan. Don't call Benjamin Todd Jealous. Open the yellow pages, go to attorneys, and let your fingers do the walking. And, don't settle for the first one either, get 3 opinions first and different prices. You'll immediately see a difference in attorneys. The cheap one will tell you plea bargain. The middle one will tell you he can get you off the charges. The highest one will tell you he can get you off scott free, sue them, get you and he money, and make the newspapers. However, even the cheapest one is better than nothing. Even the worst lawyer, is better than a state's public defender. Why? Because the public defender gets paid by the same people that the guy prosecuting gets paid from. A public defender could care less about your than if you were a cockroch under his shoe. Get your own lawyer.

You Can Afford a Lawyer or You Can't Afford Not to Have a Lawyer

You will find a lawyer is not a corporation. A lawyer doesn't have a menu that you can order off of. You will find that a lawyer's fees are not set in stone, nor is his payment time period. You can negotiate with a lawyer. You can setup payment schedules with a lawyer. You can trade stuff en lieu of payment, with a lawyer. You can't negotiate with jail. You can't setup a payment schedule with jail. You can't trade stuff en lieu of time served with jail.

Anyone telling you different than what I just told you, doesn't want you to live. Anyone telling you different than what I just told you is racist. Anyone telling you different than what I just told you is ignorant of life in America.

Forget this "God will provide" junk your mom or dad, or pastor tells you. God "provided" you with a brain. God "provided" you with a fingers for you to call a lawyer. God "provided" you with reading skills for you to read this. Yes "God will provide" alright. He provided me to tell you what's the real deal. He provided me with the knowledge to give to you, to uplift yourselves. God is not going to come down on a white chariot and save African Americans from the white man. God is not going to send his host of angels with wings, to fly us away from the misery we are living in today. God is not going to cast down lightning bolts and smite the white man for the centuries of tortue, mutilation, hangins, lynchings, murders, house burnings, bank theft, beatings, tasering, night stick pummelings, jim crow laws, voter tax laws, discrimination, encarceration and every conceivable form of injustices the white man has visited upon us. God is not going to do that. I'm not saying don't go to church. I'm saying, go to church, listen to your pastor, your mom, your dad, but when it comes time, hire you a lawyer.

Why Are Black Men Encarcerated More Than Any Other Race

They didn't hire a lawyer. Case closed. They did not hire an attorney to defend their rights. The rights of Black men have not been upheld for nearly a century now. How many times have you heard the story of the Black man, going to jail for 20 years for murder, and come to find out, he was completely innocent. Now, I ask you, if they can throw a Black man in jail for 20 years for a murder he didn't commit, how many drug charges, gun charges, robbery charges, breaking and entering charges, assault charges, spousal abuse charges, stalker charges do you think Black men are sitting in jail serving right now that they didn't commit? How many of them do you think didn't have an attorney? I bet you 99.999999% of them did not have an attorney.

What about the guilty ones? How many of them do you think didn't have an attorney? I bet you 99.999999% of them did not have a lawyer. What good can a lawyer do in a situation like that? It is well documented that while a white person and black person may commit the same crime, the white person will get the most leniant sentence and the black person will get the maximum sentence. Why? More white people retain lawyers than black people. Let me repeat that:

To participate in the American lifestyle, to take advantage of the freedoms afforded U.S. citizens, to safeguard your rights and freedoms, to protect yourself from a lawless, racist, group of blood thirsty thugs, every Black person needs to immediately retain a lawyer.

Are you finally understanding? You better wake up befor your brother / uncle / cousin / father / you lay dieing in a pool of blood from police thugs. 9 times out of 10 the police departments do nothing to the police officers who murder black suspects. 9 times out of 10 a police investigation is not done. 9 times out of 10 these cases do not go to the FBI. 9 times out of 10 other citizens applaud the police.

The police are not safeguarding Black men's lives. They are wholesale slaughtering us in the streets. We need to get lawyers who can calm these slobbering dogs down. If we start getting lawyers, then these thugs will either go to jail, or be fired, or be sued out of existance. Either way, lawyers are the answer. Remember, anyone that tells you different, doesn't want you protecting your rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
